How long does Masseter Botox® last?

Results typically last around 3 months, though timing can vary from person to person. Your provider can recommend a maintenance schedule based on your goals and how your muscles respond.

What does Masseter Botox® treat?

Masseter Botox is commonly used to help with:

  • Jaw clenching and teeth grinding (bruxism)

  • Jaw soreness or tightness

  • TMJ-related discomfort. 

Some patients also notice fewer tension-related symptoms, like headaches associated with clenching.
Can Masseter Botox® slim my jawline?

It can, when a more prominent jawline is caused by enlarged/overactive masseter muscles. As the muscle activity decreases, the muscle may gradually reduce in size, creating a subtler, more tapered contour. If your masseter muscles are already a typical size, you may not see a noticeable slimming effect.

When will I see results?

You may start to feel relief from clenching or tension within about 1–2 weeks. Visible contour changes tend to appear more gradually, typically around 2–4 weeks, and can continue to refine over the following weeks.

What is the downtime?

There’s little to no downtime. The treatment takes just a few minutes, and most people return to their normal routine right away. You may have mild tenderness, swelling, or small bumps at the injection sites that usually resolve quickly.

Are there any side effects I should know about?

Side effects are usually mild and temporary. You may experience redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising at the injection site. Less commonly, some people notice temporary changes in chewing fatigue or a feeling of weakness in the jaw. Your provider will discuss what to expect and how to minimize risks.

Can I workout after?

Plan on getting your workout in before this treatment, and avoid exercise, along with other physical activities that make you sweat, for 24 hours after treatment.
