What is a lip flip and how does it work?

A lip flip is a quick injectable treatment that uses a small amount of a neuromodulator (like Botox® or similar) in the upper lip muscles. The injections gently relax the muscles that pull your top lip downward, allowing the upper lip to “flip” outward slightly and appear fuller without adding actual volume.

How long does a lip flip last?

Lip flip results are temporary. Most people see their enhanced lip shape for about 2–4 months before the effect gradually fades and the muscles regain normal movement.

What is the downtime?

There’s virtually no downtime after a lip flip. You can generally resume normal activities immediately, though your lips may feel slightly sensitive, numb, or swollen for a short time.

When will I see results?

Some people notice subtle changes within a few days. Full effects typically develop over about 7–10 days after treatment, as the neuromodulator fully relaxes the targeted muscles.

Are there any other side effects I should know about?

Minor bruising, swelling, or redness at the injection site are the most common side effects.

How is a lip flip different from lip fillers?

A lip flip doesn’t add physical volume; instead, it changes how the muscles move, creating the appearance of slightly fuller lips. In contrast, lip fillers actually add volume for a more dramatic or long-lasting enhancement.
